    FAQs

IT asset disposal - common questions

IT asset disposal is the secure, documented process of retiring business IT: removing the equipment, destroying the data on it, then reselling, refurbishing or recycling what is left. Done properly, it protects your data, keeps you compliant with WEEE regulations and recovers value from equipment that still has a market.

Check four things. Certification: ask for ISO 27001 for information security and ISO 14001 for environmental management. Registration: the company should be a registered waste carrier on the Environment Agency public register. Traceability: every drive should be tracked by serial number through to a certificate of destruction. Value: a provider that refurbishes and resells equipment can pay you for what still has a market. VDR is certified to ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 and is a registered waste carrier under CBDU336628. See our certifications.

Yes. Every drive and tape is serial-tracked through wiping, degaussing or physical shredding, and you receive a certificate of destruction plus a full asset report for your compliance and audit records.

Yes. For larger estates we can carry out data destruction on site, so no data-bearing device leaves your building intact. Everything else travels in insured, tracked transport with full chain of custody.

We still collect it. Anything that cannot be reused or resold is recycled under WEEE regulations with a strict zero-landfill policy, and your report shows exactly what was resold, refurbished or recycled.

Yes, for anything with resale value. Valuations are normally returned within minutes of receiving your list, and payment is normally made by bank transfer the same day your equipment arrives and passes testing.
